What's the difference between Original Coat Elixir and Repair?
Original is our brilliant everyday all-rounder for maintaining coat condition and shine.
Repair is our more intensive conditioning formula, created for horses with dry, damaged or rub-prone coats and enriched with jojoba, olive oil and concentrated rosehip extract.
Will Repair regrow rubbed-out hair?
Repair isn't a hair-growth treatment, but it has been created to condition and protect the hair as it grows, helping keep new growth soft, supple and less prone to dryness and breakage.
If your horse has unexplained hair loss or persistent rubbing, we'd always recommend investigating the underlying cause.
Can I use it on rug rubs?
Yes — that's exactly the kind of horse we had in mind when creating Repair.
It can be used across the whole coat, with particular attention paid to areas prone to rubbing such as the shoulders, chest and withers.
Can I use Repair on the mane and tail?
Absolutely. It's a great choice for dry, brittle manes and tails or areas prone to breakage. Use sparingly if applying it neat — a little goes a long way.
Does my horse need to have a damaged coat to use it?
Not at all. Repair is simply our richest, most conditioning Coat Elixir. If your horse has a particularly dry coat or you want some extra conditioning through winter, you can absolutely use it as your everyday Elixir.
How often can I use it?
As often as you like. For maintaining coat condition, we recommend around 2–3 times a week.
Will it make the coat greasy?
No. Despite being our more intensive formula, Repair has been carefully blended with lightweight plant oils so that, when used as directed, it leaves the coat conditioned and glossy rather than greasy.
Can I use it before and after clipping?
Absolutely. Use it to condition and prepare the coat before clipping and to leave freshly clipped hair soft and glossy afterwards. Always make sure the coat is completely dry before clipping.
Should I patch test it?
Yes. We recommend patch testing any new topical product before first use.
Is it vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Coat Elixir Repair contains no animal-derived ingredients and is cruelty-free.
