Red Horse Products: Ear Balm

WHY WE LOVE IT

Does your horse get dry, scabby, irritated areas on his face and ears during the summer months? If so, this little tub of wonder will be a life-saver.

We originally discovered it when trying to find something to soothe and help regrow some small bald patches under one of our horses forelocks, caused by itchy midge bites. Applying a small amount of this balm cured it almost instantly with the hair regrowing within a week.

We also use it on their delicate sheath area as the midges and flies hate the smell!

WHY IT'S MORE SUSTAINABLE

DESCRIPTION

Ear Balm contains natural oils and butters to help keep horses’ ears and faces moisturised and comfortable during the dry summer months.

Dry, irritated ears can be a great source of annoyance to horses, causing them to head toss and be generally irritable. Ear Balm can be used on any skin on your horse to moisturise and soothe irritation.

The ingredients in Ear Balm have an average SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of around 5 so it should reduce the chances of sun burn.

Please note, this product is not 100% natural as it contains Saltidin, which is a man-made, but kinder alternative to DEET. If you are looking for a 100% natural alternative, we highly recommend Mother Bee Sweet Relief.

HOW TO USE

Spot check on a small area of skin before use and do not use if a reaction is shown. Rub a small amount onto visible areas of the ear and face. Do not get any in deeper parts of the ear. Re-apply as required.

Ear Balm contains nut oils (shea) so it should be kept out of contact with anyone who has nut allergies. With any products containing essential oils we recommend doing a patch test prior to more extensive application on skin.
