Top 5 cruelty-free beauty swaps
Feeling overwhelmed with where to start?
Is going cruelty-free on your list of changes to make your life more sustainable?
We know how overwhelming it can be, with a huge amount of information...and mis-information from the beauty companies about what is and isn't cruelty-free.
That's why we decided to work with The Cruelty Free Beauty Box
for the #RidersOnAMission challenge. They've been researching and trying cruelty-free beauty products for years now and are always our starting point for cruelty-free skincare, make-up, hair care and nail care.
We asked the lovely Chloe from The Cruelty Free Beauty Box to put together her top 5 favourite swaps to help you start your ethical journey!
It helps to start slowly - as each product runs out, replace it with one cruelty-free alternative. Small changes lead to big differences!
Over to you Chloe...
There's a lot of loopholes when it comes to cruelty-free, and sadly, not all companies can be trusted when they say they're cruelty-free or when they have a fake bunny on their product. Take Batiste Dry Shampoo as an example, they have 'not tested on animals' on the back of their products, sadly, this isn't true as they sell in mainland China which requires their products to be tested on animals before they enter the Chinese market.
Everything at The Cruelty Free Beauty Box, is not only cruelty-free, but also vegan. Some companies we stock are not 100% vegan, but everything we stock by that specific company is 100% vegan.
You also don't have to be Vegan to buy Vegan products, you'd be shocked at what can lurk in your bathroom & makeup products, including things like Carmine (crushed beetles), Stearic Acid (obtained from the fat of slaughtered animals) and Lactoferrin (obtained from the mammary glands of female mammals). All of which can be in products we use on our face and body, yuk!
Having tried and tested hundreds of different cruelty-free beauty products, we've put together our Top 5 Cruelty Free & Vegan easy switches:
Giovanni began in Hollywood & Beverly Hills! It's one of the top brands in the USA too, salon inspired hair care. Their range includes shampoo & conditioners but also hair repair products & styling must haves.
Chloe's favourite is the Tea Tree Shampoo & Conditioner
A range of affordable nail polishes & nail polish remover. These are long lasting, with amazing coverage from just 1 coat!
Now this deodorant is a balm, but not only is it cruelty-free and vegan, being a balm means it's also better for our health & the environment! You may look at this and be shocked by the price compared to what you're use to, but, this will last around 2 months as only a small amount is needed!
You may not be aware that the majority of designer fragrances aren't Cruelty-Free, but no need to get upset that you won't be able to buy your favourite perfume again, introducing Eden! Eden Perfumes match those most loved scents & come in at a fraction of the price!
Chloe's favourite is No.307 which is as a close as you can get to Jimmy Choo
Pacifica is a our favourite colour brand, their whole range is 100% Vegan too! They also do some wonderful fresh, fruity & summery fragrances that are worth taking a look at!
